Did you know David "Bobos In Paradise" Brooks is an OpEd columnist for the NYTimes now? Hmmmm...I usually find his writing unbearably pompous, and he starts out every piece with a reasonable proposition and proceeds to convolute it to the point where I just fling it aside (with one very notable exception). Anyway, I was having one of these head-spinning moments while reading his latest screed, somehow connecting resurgent anti-Semitism and conspiracy theories with Noam Chomsky and the 2004 election, when I realized as usual, Tom Tomorrow has it right:
David Brooks' column is probably the strongest evidence of pervasive liberal bias at the Times. Okay, the editors thought, we've taken some hits lately with this whole Blair/Raines business. We'll reassert our objectivity by adding a conservative voice to the Op-Ed page. But--they say, allowing themselves just a hint of a smile--it has to be the biggest nitwit we can find.
Nice.
