Dr. Dean may not be Dr. King quite yet, but this op-ed from the L.A. Times makes an interesting point about the underlying issue of Dems winning the white Southern vote, and what MLK might say:
"King realized that the grand old bargain this country had always offered to poor whites – namely, accept your poverty and we will ensure your racial caste superiority over blacks – must be destroyed before universal opportunity could be realized." Maybe Howard should look to this Ms. C. Rice as a speechwriter...
